José Baselga, M.D., is Chief of Medical Oncology Service at the Vall d'Hebron University Hospital, and of Céntro Medico Teknon, both in Barcelona, Spain. He is also Professor of Medicine at the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, where he obtained his medical degree, and the Scientific Chairman of the Spanish Breast Cancer Cooperative group SOLTI. After completing residencies in internal medicine in Spain and New York, he did his fellowship in medical oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and then joined its Breast Oncology Service. In 1996 he returned to Spain. Dr. Baselga is an Associate Editor of Annals of Oncology and a member of the Editorial Advisor boards for Clinical Cancer Research and Investigational New Drugs. He has published over 200 abstracts, articles, and book chapters on his research interests, focusing on growth factor receptors and downstream molecules as targets for breast cancer therapy.
