Jennifer Griggs, M.D., M.P.H., is a medical oncologist specializing in the treatment of breast cancer. She is Associate Professor, Department of Medicine in the Division of Hematology/Oncology at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Dr. Griggs has received research funding from the National Institutes of Health, the Susan G. Komen Foundation, the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, and the U.S. Department of Defense, and has written many articles and book chapters, including the oncology section of Cecil's Essentials of Medicine.

Jennifer has a special interest in cancer survivorship, patient-physician communication, and quality of care for women with breast cancer. She is particularly interested in the role of information support in quality of life. "Learning as much as possible about breast cancer helps a woman gain understanding and some control over a disease that too often has her feeling blown about like a leaf in the wind," she says. "And connecting to a community of breast cancer specialists and to other women with breast cancer immeasurably enhances a woman's circle of support. What I love about my work," she continues, "is the role I play in helping women make difficult decisions -- especially with so much information for them to sort through -- to find what's relevant, current, and reliable. Because of its unique format, Breastcancer.org is poised to help women everywhere find the most dependable, up-to-the-minute information."
